February 21, 2013 Seaside Park, NJ: Funtown Peers : Friends of Seaside Park announced today the awarding of $100,000 by the Robin Hood Relief Fund from proceeds that were raised during the 12-12-12 Concert for Sandy Relief event held at Madison Square Garden in December.
The Robin Hood Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund has granted more than $50 million to hundreds of organizations throughout the tri-state region that are helping individuals and families recover from the devastating effects of the storm.
Funtown Peers: Friends of Seaside Park, Inc., is the creation of Vito and Vincent Gagliardi. The brothers formed the organization after traveling to Seaside Park following the storm. Having a long family history in Seaside Park it became their mission to set up a foundation dedicated to helping the residents and businesses of Seaside Park rebuild. Many of our residents and small businesses owners are still in a holding pattern on rebuilding and restoring their properties due to waiting on proper FEMA guidelines, and a determination of payouts from insurance companies. This has resulted in prolonged stress and suffering. It is our hope to ease this burden in a swift and efficient manner by providing some immediate relief.Funtown Peers will utilize the monies from Robin Hood relief fund to aid individuals in the form of products and gift cards ranging from $200 – $2,000. However, Funtown Peers will be able to assist local businesses as well with other fundraising efforts.
Funtown Peers will be holding their first fundraising event on Friday February 22, 2013 at the Gran Centurions in Clark, NJ. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the door. Further information on this event is available on the website: www.ssp2013.com.
Applications for financial assistance will be available to Seaside Park residents and businesses by contacting the foundation and the Borough within the next few weeks.
