The Borough of Seaside Park, located on the Barnegat Barrier Island in Ocean County, New Jersey, was incorporated in 1898. Seaside Park is a small town of only 0.77 square miles with a year-round population of just over 2,200 residents. With almost two miles of shoreline on the Atlantic Ocean, the borough’s main industry is summer tourism. Seaside Park is bordered on the north by the Borough of Seaside Heights and its amusement arcades, rides and boardwalk. To the south is South Seaside Park, which is an unincorporated section of Berkeley Township, and Island Beach State Park.
Seaside Park is located across the Barnegat Bay from Toms River, the county seat of Ocean County. It is easily reached by Route 37 from the west (Garden State Parkway exit 82 or Route 70 to Route 37 east) or Route 35 from the north (Garden State Parkway exit 98, Route 34 east to Route 35 south).

The 2023 Garbage & Recycling Calendar is now available online.
Once per week pickup begins January 1, 2023. Please note, on Monday January 2nd, 2023 there will be no garbage pickup for the observation of the New Year’s Holiday. Both ocean and bayside garbage will be collected on Tuesday January 3rd, 2023.
Printed collection schedules will be mailed out in January and are also available at the Borough Hall (1701 North Ocean Ave), Construction Department (313 SW Central Ave – please use 4th Ave side door), Police Station foyer (6th & Central Aves.) and Recycling Yard (14th & Barnegat Aves – in the shed brochure holder). The Seaside Park Police Department has implemented its Body Worn Camera Program. All sworn members of the Seaside Park Police Department will be equipped with Axon Body 3 cameras. All uniformed personnel will have the Body Worn Camera affixed to their outermost garment in the upper chest/torso region. Officers not in uniform may have the body worn camera affixed to approved belt camera brackets.
It is the policy of the Seaside Park Police Department to utilize Body Worn Cameras to assist the Sworn members of the agency in the performance of their duties by providing accurate and unbiased recorded accounts of all police incidents.
The Seaside Park Police Department is committed to providing the highest quality of Police services to our community. Body Worn Camera recordings are invaluable to law enforcement in numerous ways such as the gathering of evidence. Body Worn Camera recordings are valuable for the prosecution of criminal cases, traffic cases, and other related offenses. Body Worn Camera recordings will protect police personnel from claims of misconduct, as well as to assist in investigations of citizen complaints of Officer actions. Additionally, Body Worn Camera recordings will provide valuable feedback to Department Supervisors to correct any potential problems. Finally, Body Worn Camera recordings will provide valuable instructional material that can be utilized for in-service training.

On Thursday, March 2 a deceased juvenile Humpback whale washed ashore in the Borough of Seaside Park. Notification was made to the Marine Mammal Stranding Center and within a few hours multiple agencies and resources were on the ground in our Borough to assist.
The Borough would like to thank and recognize everyone that helped support the mission of retrieving the whale from the surf, relocation, necropsy and, ultimately, the disposal of the whale.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT 2023 APPLICATION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the governing body of the Borough of Seaside Park has authorized 2 public hearings concerning the 2023 Ocean County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. The first hearing will be held at the Regular Meeting scheduled for Thursday, January 26, 2023, immediately following the 7:00 pm Work Session. The second hearing will be held at the Regular Meeting scheduled for Thursday, February 9, 2023, immediately following the 7:00 pm Work Session.
Both hearings will be held in-person in the second-floor Council Chambers, located at Sixth & Central Avenues, Seaside Park, NJ 08752.
Citizens and agencies/organizations are invited to comment on the proposed CDBG application listed below. The purpose of the hearing will be to select and prioritize CDBG applications for submittal to Ocean County for funding consideration under the FY 2023 CDBG Program.
Proposed Project – FY2023 CDBG Accessibility Upgrades to J Street Recreation Center. The use of funds will be consistent with the requirements of the CDBG funding source with an estimated construction cost of $35,000.00.
