PURPOSE: The Borough of Seaside Park is seeking funding through the State of NJ Green Acres Program for improvements to the softball field at 13th Avenue Park located at 13th and 14th Avenues and Barnegat Avenue in the Borough of Seaside Park, Ocean County, NJ.

PROJECT SCOPE: The Borough proposes to improve the existing softball field facilities within the park. Specifically, the proposed project involves infield improvements (new softball bases, batter’s box and infield clay mix), outfield improvements (drainage improvements, irrigation, topsoil, fertilizer and seed), the removal and replacement of the existing dugouts, bleachers, concrete sidewalk, concrete slabs, and install concrete retaining walls (as required) and the removal and replacement of the existing softball field fencing and gates. A major goal of the park improvements is to address the existing stormwater ponding by removing and re-grading the entire limits of the softball field and installing perforated pipe below the grass area to reduce the poor drainage of the field. A concept plan showing the proposed changes, a preliminary cost estimate, and an environmental impact assessment for the project can be found at: www.seasideparknj.org

PUBLIC HEARING INFORMATION: The public is encouraged to attend a public hearing to learn more about the proposal and to ask questions or provide comments on the proposed plan on February 1, 2024 at 7:00 pm. The meeting will be held in person in the second-floor Council Chambers located at Sixth & Central Avenues, Seaside Park, NJ 08752, as part of the regularly scheduled Council meeting. Written comments on the proposed application may be directed to Karen Kroon, Borough Administrator, kkroon@seasideparknj.org 1701 North Ocean Avenue, Seaside Park, NJ 08752.
